01 — The brief
Built for construction, not for a gallery.
Delays, rework and guessed volumes cost more than a survey. MATH Surveying turns a live site into data plant, QS and the engineer can all use — on the same grid, in the formats they already open.
We are a Kettering practice: small enough that you speak to the person who will attend, dedicated enough to get the job done. Earthworks, concrete, steel, and an as-built you can issue.
What
The job
Earthworks volumes, machine-control surfaces, setting out for concrete and steel, as-builts and scan to BIM. The frame as well as the muck.
How
The method
Control first, the right instrument for the tolerance, RAMS a principal contractor can file. You speak to the person who will attend.
Delivered
The issue
CAD, surfaces, volumes and a PDF the QS can file — plus a secure workspace to view, share and measure in the browser.
02 — The work
The muck and the frame.
Muck
Earthworks
Cut-and-fill, stockpiles, progress surfaces and plant models. Numbers QS and the operator can both use.
View service
Pours
Concrete
Pours, pile caps, walls and abutments — as-set before the concrete goes in. The frame keeps a programme when the muck cannot.
View service
Lifts
Steel
Grid, holding-down, lifts and as-built of the steel. Night possessions included.
View service03 — Services
What we do.
Cut & fill
Earthworks
Cut-and-fill, stockpiles, progress surfaces and topographic update — numbers QS, site and plant can agree on.
View service
Plant
Machine control
3D models built for Trimble, Leica and Topcon plant — so grading happens once.
View service
On site
Setting out
Grid, level and line for earthworks, concrete and steel — pours, pile caps, holding-down and grid, on the programme you are actually running.
View service
Verification
As-built & BIM
Independent check of what was built — and a scan-to-BIM model of concrete and steel the design team can actually use.
View service
Movement
Monitoring
Embankments, sheet piles, gabions and structures — measured against agreed trigger levels, not guessed.

How a job actually runs.
-
01
Brief
Send a drawing, a KML, a postcode or a what3words. We quote the same day wherever we can.
-
02
Method
RAMS, CAA flight plan where we fly, inductions and a control scheme that matches your site grid.
-
03
Capture
Aerial survey, GNSS, total station or laser scan — whichever the tolerance and the plant actually need.
-
04
Check
Ground control, checkpoints, overlap and a second pair of eyes before anything leaves the office.
-
05
Deliver
CAD, surfaces, volumes, machine-control models and a PDF the QS can file. Plus a secure link so your team can view and measure the site in a browser.
04 — Deliverables
Files your software already opens.
Trimble, Leica, Topcon, DTM Software — CAD, surfaces and point clouds the engineer and the plant already use. You also get a secure online workspace: the site in 2D and 3D, in the browser, with distance, area and volume tools. View, share and measure. No extra software to install.

05 — Work
Typical commissions.
Steel
Holding-down bolts
Bolt group marked and checked on the pile cap before the steel. The record the erector and the designer both need.
Concrete
Concrete structure
Line and level for walls, pile caps and pours — as-set before the concrete goes in, not after.
Steel
Steel lift
Grid and as-set for a steel lift — the frame goes in where the drawing says, on a possession window.
06 — Why MATH
Judgement on a live site.
-
Earthworks
Volumes, progress surfaces and plant models a QS and an operator can both use. Aerial capture is a method, not the product.
-
Concrete & steel
Pours, pile caps, holding-down and grid — then as-built and scan to BIM of what actually went in. The frame keeps a programme when the muck cannot.
-
You speak to the person who attends
No national call centre. No junior passed the brief. Direct from Kettering.
-
Issued as files you already open
CAD, surfaces, volumes, machine-control models and a browser workspace. Legal to fly where we fly.
07 — Coverage
Based in Kettering. Across the East Midlands.
The A14 and M1 put Northampton, Corby, Leicester, Milton Keynes and the rest of the East Midlands within a short mobilisation. Further sites are planned, not refused.

08 — Questions
Straight answers.
Do you only do earthworks?
No. Earthworks volumes and plant models sit alongside setting out and as-built for concrete and steel — pours, pile caps, holding-down, grid, and scan to BIM of the frame. Concrete and steel keep a programme when the muck cannot.
How do you measure earthworks volumes?
We survey the site as it stands, compare it to design or to the last visit, and issue a report with the method written down. Aerial capture covers the ground; GNSS or scan fill in where the tolerance needs it. The number is one a QS can defend.
What files do you issue?
DWG / DXF, LandXML, LAS / LAZ point clouds, GeoTIFF orthomosaics, CSV coordinates and PDF reports. Machine-control packages for Trimble, Leica and Topcon. Scan-to-BIM models in Revit or IFC where specified. You also get a secure online workspace: 2D and 3D in the browser, with distance, area and volume tools, limited to your job. No extra software to install. If your engineer wants something else, ask — we would rather issue it once.
How quickly can you get to site?
We are based in Kettering, Northamptonshire, on the A14 / M1 corridor. East Midlands sites are often the next working day. Further afield is planned, not refused. Quotes are turned around the same day wherever the brief is clear.
Do we need to stop the site?
Usually not. We work around plant, agree a survey window, and keep out of the critical path. If we need a short exclusion for a take-off or a scan, we say so in the method.
Are you CAA approved?
Yes. Where we fly, UAV operations are under a UK Civil Aviation Authority operational authorisation (PDRA01-22922). We issue RAMS and fly to the site rules, not around them.
What do you need for a quote?
A site location, a rough area, the job (earthworks, setting out, machine-control model, as-built, scan to BIM or monitoring) and a drawing if you have one. A phone call is enough to start.
Next step
Need numbers the site can work from?
Send a drawing or a postcode. We quote the same day wherever we can.
